We’ve had a run of really awful weather this week in the Pacific Northwest. Wildfires from Canada have really screwed up the atmosphere and made it super smoky. It’s pretty unhealthy to go outside and when you do, you end up feeling pretty awful for the rest of the day. It’s like early spring with the pollen…on steroids. Just awful.
I don’t know if it’s because of the heat and smoke, but my period started on Wednesday and it was a doozy. I used to get really bad cramps when I was younger, before I altered my diet to a more anti-inflammatory one, but for the last decade, I’ve mostly had little to no cramps. It’s been great, and I really feel awful for women who haven’t figured out what I have, yet. Maybe I have taken that a little too much for granted, though, because Wednesday was just awful. I had pretty bad cramps (not as awful as they would have normally been when I was younger, but bad enough that I had to take a couple of hot baths in the span of four hours). I have had a very heavy flow, too. Usually, my period is light to moderate, except for maybe one pad that would be heavy. This time, all three days have been heavy. It finally let up today. Notably, the smoke outside let up a bit. It’s still bad, just not as bad.
Anyway, it’s been really gross outside, and gross inside, and I haven’t really wanted to do much in the way of healthy eating or exercise. Also, my parents have been here, and with the weather and them being here, we’ve eaten out more. Not too bad, but enough that I’m not planning my meals and eating at home. So, all in all, it’s not a great week for my plan. Hopefully things start really clearing up tonight. I don’t know how much longer my body can take this. Really missing my winter rain and cold right about now.
